Review on Filming

So I filmed a lot of the footage last Wednesday, and after looking back at it all I am very happy with how the shoot planned out. I stuck to a rough timeline of what I needed to film and ensured each actor and actress knew what they were doing at different points when shooting. Although I have a lot of footage, I feel like I may need to schedule another shoot just to reshoot a few shots to be certain that I have everything that I need to edit successfully. During lessons, I have started to edit some of the footage, and I am currently very pleased with how its going, fingers crossed!

Looking at Free Licensed Music

I have discovered a free licensed website called freemusicarchive.com to find suitable music for my trailer. Shown below is an image of the website I used. The orange highlighted track at the bottom is the track I'll be using in my trailer.

Messing around with Fonts

I have decided to call my horror trailer 'SHERIDAN'

At this moment in time, I'm still undecided on what font to use in my trailer. Shown above are a group of different fonts that I may use. To help me decide on a font, I will ask a few friends and family and see which font they prefer. I will also need to take into account that the font must meet the horror conventions, suiting my trailer.

Before shooting my horror trailer, I thought I'd mess around with different types of fonts to see which one suits my trailer the best. It also allows me to ask others what they think of them.

Location Photoshoot

All these images above are a select few that I have picked out from 50 photos that I took at the weekend. This location is my friends house and she is happy for me to shoot my horror trailer here. I believe this is a great place to use as it's an old victorian house which suits the theme and my trailers horror conventions. I believe, all these pictures immediately connote an old and spooky atmosphere by just looking at the old paintings that are on the walls in the living room.

The bigger the image, the more important the scene is. For example, the middle image of the stairs leading up to the attic is a vital scene for my trailer as this will be where the main action will happen, building suspense and a tense atmosphere.

Messing around with Music

At this moment in time whilst researching and planning my horror film/trailer, I came across some music that I believe would suit the trailer. Personally, I thought it would set the scene if I used this kind of music (shown above) as diagetic music, hinting to the audience the historic nature of the first scene.

Storyboard

I used StoryBoardThat to help create my story board for my horror film. Although it was easy to use and provided me the tools to be able to successfully portray the storyline, it had many restrictions. Firstly, using this website restricted me to state and explain the different kind of shots I will be including at certain points within the trailer as all the objects, backgrounds and characters used within it have all been tailored and made to StoryBoardThat, which meant I couldn't portray the scenes as I wanted too. As this website was free to use it also wouldn't allow me to add more boxes without having to purchase the software. Overall, I believe this software was handy to help create my horror trailer but doesn't reveal and show off all the key elements my trailer will include, such as the different kind of shots, the diagetic and non-diagetic sounds, costumes, characters and setting. Therefore, in the near future before arranging to shoot my trailer, I will elaborate on this storyboard and update my blog with key information about the plot and the trailer itself.
